How this test works

What this assessment measures

The Mensa Norway online test has 35 matrix puzzles to solve in 25 minutes and reports an IQ between 85 and 145. This unofficial practice uses the same format with original puzzles: 35 three-by-three grids, six options each, getting harder in five steps of seven, on one 25-minute clock that stops the test when it runs out. You get a raw count of the puzzles you solved and the rule behind every one, never an IQ, a percentile or a score out of 100.

A raw count from one unsupervised sitting, with no norm sample behind it, cannot be converted into an IQ, a Mensa Norway score or a percentile, and it says nothing about Mensa admission. The puzzles are our own and harder or easier than the official ones in ways nobody has measured. The figures have to be seen: the puzzles cannot be answered from their text alternatives alone, so a screen-reader user is better served by the untimed matrix test.

Scoring happens in this browser tab: answers and result text are not sent as analytics properties, and answers are never written to browser storage. Why this route is different

The official test tells you a number and nothing about the puzzles. Here every grid comes back with the rule it followed, so a miss shows which kind of change you stopped tracking, and the five steps of seven show where the puzzles outran you. The form never changes, so a second attempt is honest about being a second attempt.

A small next step

Open the review, take the first band where you missed two or more, and for each miss say the rule out loud before you look at the tiles again.

Questions people ask

Is this the real Mensa Norway test?

No. It is unofficial practice in the same format: 35 three-by-three grids with one tile missing, six options each, on one 25-minute clock. The puzzles are original to MyTestAtlas. The official test is free at test.mensa.no.

Why does it not give me an IQ?

Because nothing here has been scored against Mensa Norway's norms, or anyone's. A raw count of puzzles solved is the only honest number one sitting can give. If you want an estimated range from a published formula, the free IQ test prints one with its working.

What happens when the 25 minutes run out?

The test stops wherever you are. Any puzzle you have not answered counts as not solved, your answers are locked, and you can see your count and every answer. The clock keeps running if you switch tabs.

Can I pause it or take it untimed?

Not here: the clock is the format. The matrix reasoning test has the same kind of grid with no clock and no pause needed.

Will a good count here get me into Mensa?

No. Admission needs a supervised test run by a national Mensa, or a qualifying score from a professionally administered test on its published list. A count from this page cannot be converted into either.
