Why this route is different
Most pages on this subject hand back one dark score and a word for the kind of person you are. Here the three patterns run separately and are never added up, because strategy without detachment is an ordinary negotiator and detachment without strategy is an ordinary blunt friend. One number hides exactly the difference that matters.

Is this a narcissist test?
No. It is a profile of three everyday patterns, and it cannot label anyone. Cleveland Clinic writes that a healthcare provider, usually a psychiatrist or psychologist, diagnoses narcissistic personality disorder by talking to you, and that a test taken online is not a formal diagnosis.
What is the dark triad?
It is the name researchers gave in 2002 to three traits studied together — narcissism, Machiavellianism and subclinical psychopathy — described as ordinary traits found in the general population rather than clinical conditions. This page is written from those published definitions, with its own plain-English names and its own questions.
Can I use this to work out whether my ex is a narcissist?
No. Every question asks about your own behaviour, so answering on someone else's behalf tells you about your view of them rather than about them. A label applied to someone at a distance is not something this or any other web page can give you.
Does a prominent pattern mean I am a bad person?
There is no score and no total here, and none of the three patterns is read as good or bad. Wanting your work recognised, planning a conversation in advance and staying steady when a room is upset are ordinary; where and how often you use them is the part worth looking at.
