Where do these 32 statements come from?
They are the items from the IPIP Interpersonal Circumplex, used word for word. IPIP items are public domain, so we can publish them unchanged and name the source rather than keeping the item bank private.
Why are the eight directions named differently from what I have read elsewhere?
The inventory's own octant labels are research terms such as cold-hearted and arrogant-calculating. Those describe a position on a circle, not a person, and a result page that prints them at a reader is calling them names. The eight here are named for what the statements actually ask about, from taking the lead through warmth towards others to keeping to yourself.
Which of the eight am I?
