What this assessment measures
This test measures four bipolar dimensions of everyday style: Outward or Inward energy, Imaginative or Practical attention, Warm or Even-keeled feeling, and Planned or Flexible structure. Each is scored from 10 to 12 public-domain IPIP-NEO facet items and shown as its own meter, alongside the closest of 16 named patterns. It cannot tell you a fixed type, a diagnosis, or how you compare with anyone else.

Material limit
This is one sitting, self-reported, with no norm group and no cut-off: nothing here is compared with other people, and a meter near the middle can tip to the other pole on another day. Mood, recent events and how you happen to read a word all move the answers. It is not a diagnosis and not a fixed type.

Why this route is different
A four-letter label hides the fact that three of your four meters may be sitting close to the middle. Here each meter's position is the result you read first, and the sixteen-pattern name is only shorthand for where the four landed. It changes the next time they do.
A small next step
Take the meter that landed closest to the middle and watch it for one week: write down three moments it went one way and three it went the other. Whichever list is harder to fill tells you more about that dimension than the pattern name did.
Questions people ask
Is this the 16 personalities or MBTI test?
No. This is an original MyTestAtlas arrangement of public-domain IPIP-NEO items into four dimensions we named ourselves, with no affiliation to any commercial type indicator, and no type is fixed for you here: you get four meters and the closest pattern for this sitting.
How many questions is the personality type test?
46 statements: 12 on each of three dimensions and 10 on the fourth. It takes about 10 minutes, because each statement is a short phrase rather than a scenario to read through.
Is it free?
Yes, free with no sign-up and no account. Your answers and your result stay in this browser tab and are never sent anywhere.
Can my personality type change?
Yes. The pattern name is a summary of where four meters landed in one sitting, and a meter near the middle can tip the other way on another day, which is why the meters, not the name, are the result.
What does the 16-pattern name actually mean?
It is a two-word shorthand built from which pole was more prominent on each of the four meters. It carries no information the meters do not already show you.
