AtlasAttentionGo/No-Go Test

Reaction and attention tasks

Respond to circles and hold back for squares

Sixty quick trials: respond to every circle, hold back for every square. The result counts lapses and false presses and shows response-time drift across the run.

What this assessment measures

A go/no-go task asks for a fast response to a frequent stimulus and no response to a rare one. This page counts the circles you missed, the squares you pressed on by mistake, your median response time, and how that time changed across the first, second and last third of the run.

What this test reports

  • omissions
  • commissions
  • median response
  • drift across thirds

How the task works

  1. A circle or a square flashes in the area.
  2. Press Space or tap for a circle; do nothing for a square.
  3. Squares are rarer, which is what makes holding back hard.
  4. Sixty trials at a steady pace.

This task needs vision and a pointer or keyboard, and it measures response times. Times are measured on this device and browser and are reported as your own figures; they are not comparable across devices or with other people. If you use a screen reader or cannot respond quickly, the questionnaires and reasoning tests on this site are the accessible route.

Material limit

Sixty browser trials on your own device measure this sitting only. The task is not a clinical measure of impulsivity or inattention, and its counts cannot be compared with other people or with any cut-off.

This route calculates its result in this browser tab; answers and result text are not sent as analytics properties or written to browser storage. Response times stay in this tab as well.

Why this route is different

Misses and false presses are two different kinds of error, one about staying engaged and one about stopping in time, and the page keeps them apart; the drift figure shows whether attention held for the whole run.

A small next step

If commissions were high, run again and let the first square pass deliberately slowly; if omissions were high, notice which third they clustered in.
