What this assessment measures

Most anxiety tests add everything up into one number, and that number hides the thing worth knowing, which is where the alarm actually shows up for you. This self-check keeps four things apart. What your body does in the minutes around something feared, awaited or unexpected. How far one worry travels once it starts moving, and whether it can be put down. How much of it is spent in the hours before anything has happened. And the fourth, which a score can never show you: what has quietly been moved, dropped or handed to somebody else so the feared thing does not come up. It asks about sixteen everyday situations from the last month, on a scale from almost never to almost always, and shows each of the four on its own scale. The items are original to MyTestAtlas. There is no total, no cut-off and no comparison with anyone else, so it cannot tell you whether you have an anxiety disorder, and it cannot tell you whether what your body is doing is anxiety or something else. A quiet reading rules nothing out, because a life already arranged around the hard things answers quietly.

Original MyTestAtlas clean-room items. Written from a construct description by an author who read no published questionnaire, scale or screener for this subject, in any language; not adapted from any instrument.

This self-check cannot tell anxiety apart from the things that produce the same answers: too little sleep, caffeine, alcohol, thyroid trouble, a heart or breathing problem being looked into, some prescribed medicines, and an ordinary reaction to a difficult few weeks. It has no cut-off, no total and no comparison with anyone else, so a quiet reading rules nothing out and a prominent one rules nothing in.

Why this route is different

One number cannot tell a person who is all body and no thinking apart from a person who is all thinking and no body, and those two need different conversations. You leave with four readings kept apart, and one of them, what got rerouted, can be checked against your own calendar rather than against a scale.

A small next step

Go back over last month in your own calendar and mark anything that was moved, dropped or handed to somebody else, and what you did instead. A page of dated examples is what an appointment can use, and it is the one part of this that leaves a trace outside your own memory.

Questions people ask

Can this tell me whether I have an anxiety disorder?

No. It has no cut-off, no total and no diagnostic rule, and no online questionnaire can diagnose one. Only a clinician who takes a history and weighs the alternatives can do that.

Is this the GAD-7 or another standard questionnaire?

No. The sixteen statements are original to MyTestAtlas and were written from plain descriptions of what each pattern covers, not from any instrument. Nothing here is read against a published threshold.

How is this different from the Low Mood and Worry self-check?

That one asks about a fortnight taken as a whole, including interest, sleep, and worry that will not switch off across ordinary days. This one asks about the minutes around a particular occasion, and about one worry and how far it travels.

Everything came out quiet. Does that mean nothing is wrong?

No. Alarm that has been managed by rearranging a life answers this quietly, which is why the fourth card asks what got moved or handed over rather than how anything felt. A quiet reading rules nothing in and nothing out.

Are my answers stored or sent anywhere?

No. The result is calculated in this browser tab. Answers and result text are never sent as analytics properties and are never written to browser storage.
